Is there a wrong way

When it comes to knitting, everyone has their own unique way to do things. The question still remains is there really a wrong way to knit? In my opinion, the bottom line is that as long as the knitter likes what they are producing then that is all that matters.

I have often times heard knitters tell other knitters they are doing something wrong, I sometimes catch myself doing the same thing. Then I think, it isn’t necessarily wrong it is just different. Sure many knitters do things differently but if they are creating something they like does it really matter how they come about it. It is only wrong if the knitter doesn’t like the outcome.

Just watching other knitters in our knitting circle I can see that just about everyone has their own style of knitting. Some knit English style or throw their yarn, others knit Continental or pick the yarn, some are left handed some knit right handed. Even among the different groups, whether English or Continental there are still differences among the different knitters. How they hold or wrap their yarn, whether they knit in the front or back loop, how close the stitches are to the tip of the needle and how much tension is placed on each stitch.

Even though every knitter has their own way of knitting, in most cases two knitters can certainly get the same result. So how can we even say that one method of knitting is more right over another.

I guess we can’t.

I am getting there..

I had hoped to be able to catch up on reading blogs yesterday during my lunch hour, but it flew by and before I knew it the hour was up and it was back to work. Hopefully today I will have some time to read a few blogs.

So have you been trying to figure out what the mystery project was. Well here it is.

It is a license plate cozy. I know you are probably thinking what the heck do you need that for. Well, my mother-in-law wanted it so she could hang a WWII Veteran license plate for her brother who has been very sick. It took quite an imagination to design this, but somehow I it made it happen.

I leave you today with cat craziness. Here I am trying to do my pushups when Sami decides my back is her new bed. She is just a little nuts. And you get a quick peek at the basement. I should have final pictures by next weekend; we only have a few more minor things to finish up.

Trying to Catch up

Wow! I am so far behind on everything. I started a new job last Monday and since then I have barely even looked at my computer at home. I haven’t read any blogs in more than a week, and as you have seen I haven’t posted here either. I am hoping that will all change once I get back in the swing of working full-time. After being unemployed for nearly 6 months it has been difficult to get back on a schedule, and I am hoping this week will be better than last.

I have been trying to knit whenever I get the opportunity. Here are some pictures from more than a wee ago of the progress on my projects.

Here is the Beach Baby Sweater I have been making for Taylor. Since this picture was taken, I have finished both sleeves and added the button band. All I have left to do is sew on the sleeves. With any luck I will be able to complete that this week and start on a similar sweater for Taylor’s twin brother Chace.

Here is the Central Park Hoodie. This too has a little more progress than the picture shows, but my focus has really been on other projects the last few weeks.

As well as the other projects this project is a little further along that pictured below. It is the Soho Cabled scarf from Style Hounds.

And this next project was a crazy request made by my mother-in-law. Can you guess what it is? I will post the answer tomorrow.
